The Digital Roller Coating solution is a carbon black, solvent-based Laser Ablative Mask Solution (LAMS) that has a unique combination of solvents used in Roller coating of Flexographic Photopolymer Sleeves. To allow high coverage at low coat weights of the coating, the carbon black chosen is a low particle size, non-migratory pigment. The Roller coating system uses a small rubber roller to coat a very uniform, thin, dry coating on the photopolymer sleeves. The solution is optimized to coat approximately 3-4 m of the mask coating, which possesses an optical density (OD) of about 4.0. The solvents utilized, allow the roller to "buff" the photopolymer surface, in order to attain a very smooth photopolymer surface profile, without having a deleterious affect on the photopolymer.
