The Digital Ring Coating solution is also a carbon black solvent based Laser Ablative Resist Solution (LARS) having a unique combination of solvents for complete coverage of Gravure cylinders. The solvents are optimized to achieve a smooth, high gloss surface after ring coating. The solids in the solution are optimized for an approximately 5-15 m of the resist coating dry coating thickness. This thickness of coating is required to allow the time controlled chemical etching of the copper cylinder. The unique combination of the carbon black pigment and binders used in our formulations create excellent resistance to the chemicals used for copper etching while simultaneously providing excellent sensitivity and image fidelity to the Nd:YAG laser used during the imaging step.
