Worker Safety

Nutre Clean’s high flash points (144oF/62oC), coupled with the fact that all major components are permitted by the FDA and are GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by FEMA, improves worker safety and may reduce insurance underwriting cost by eliminating flammables in the workplace. The very low vapor pressure and evaporative rates insure that only minimal amounts of Nutre Clean become airborne, lowering the light pine aroma in the workplace. As with all strong detergents and cleaners, reasonable care should be exercised with the product’s use.

Environmental Safety

Nutre Clean products contain no ozone depleting substances (ODS), they are not hazardous air pollutants (HAPS), and terpenes are recommended by the Montreal Protocol as a safe alternative for petroleum chemistry worldwide. With water dilution, the amount of cleaner used is reduced by the water factor which further reduces the potential for VOC use in a plant. Nutre Clean T144 WM and TE144 WM are not RCRA hazardous waste in their virgin state and approval to sewer the product has been granted in all municipalities where permission has been requested. They have a persistence rating of zero, meaning they are easily biodegradable and decompose through natural processes.

Nutre Clean products are formulated to be a safe replacement for traditional petroleum printing solvents which may be considered toxic, hazardous, or undesirable for a variety of health or environmental reasons. They are designed to remove cured or moist petroleum and soy type inks from blankets, where blankets are cleaned by hand with a rag, and for the removal of these inks from roller trains, metering rollers, impression cylinders, and other web or sheet press areas where ink comes into contact with press components. Nutre Clean T144 WM and TE144 WM will replace blanket washes, MRC, deglazers, and other press room cleaners. One product will do it all! They are proprietary blends of coniferous (comes from pine trees) terpenes and other biodegradable ingredients. High solvency (good strength and subsequent cleaning ability) results in the use of far less product to clean presses and, with the ability to dilute with water and still achieve excellent cleaning results, the operating cost becomes very effective.

Use

Nutre Clean T144 WM and TE144 WM are always used water diluted in all blanket applications. The TE version is not as strong as the T version and more TE will be required to clean an identical surface area. These products are initially diluted with one part water to one part T144 WM for blanket washes. With repeated cleaning the blankets will have old inks removed and with T144 WM water dilutions may be increased to as much as 4:1, TE144 WM will generally remain in the 1:1 dilution range. Both products are true one step ink, gum, and paper fine remover - the water rinse step will be eliminated. Rollers are cleaned with a squirt bottle but only one half the amount of cleaner is used when compared to petroleum chemistry. Generally roller trains are cleaned with full strength T144 WM but, with experience in your plant, it may be found that water dilution is acceptable. All other areas may be cleaned by dampening a rag - moist but not dripping - and wiping the surface down. No rinse is required as Nutre Clean is compatible with offset ink. Saleable copy should be produced in five to ten impressions.
